Well, he was fairly indisposed
And yet when you walked he followed
He felt just like a friendly ghost
As the plans evolved in haste
And who was I to set the record straight
Classified in part, an exclusionary announcement
A failed attempt at leaving the collection
And who was I to cut right through the tape
Be us apart from all the laymen
Or in the crowd upon the avenue
We're listening for sense in disparate sameness
Or falling awake
Yes to the no
Too fast and too slow
A semblance of peace conceived with
Young blood past around like love
In a moment
And the anger it temps me but I feel so uninvolved
When he recovered from the fog
Believed the separation of the classes
Then he resolved to keep a log
Of every sin and and no action taken
And who was I to tell him he's mistaken
Be us apart from all the laymen
Or in the crowd upon the avenue
We're listening for sense in disparate sameness
Or falling awake
Yes to the no
Too fast and too slow
A semblance of peace conceived with
Old blood past around like gloves
In a moment
Yet the history temps me so I feel so unresolved
Oh and I meant to accept you but love don't end so well

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
The UK upstarts' debut veers from sunny, psychedelic folk to bristling post-punk with reckless abandon without ever missing a beat. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 18, 2024
